Cucina Della Rosa Cooking School provides the perfect venue for discovering the fun of cooking and entertaining with your family, friends, colleagues and clubs!
CDR was created by Barrington resident and owner, Mary Rose Hoover, to inspire people to cook with passion and enjoy the experience with family and friends while entertaining. As one of her students stated, "Mary Rose shares her passion in every encounter with you and in return it becomes yours!”
We offer hands on style Classes such as Pasta-Making, Hearty Soups, Herb-A-Licious and Italian Desserts. CDR has also become the “talk of the town” for hosting our client’s Private Events such as such as memorable family nights, ladies night out, and couples-only gatherings where fun and entertaining are the main ingredients!

We enrich lifestyles by offering innovative Kids Programs that teach cuisine and culinary skills to kids, teens and young adults. You can also count on us to help you host your own cooking or gourmet club events. Our Gift Certificates also make the perfect gift or charitable donation!

Your Hosts
Mary Rose – Owner
Mary Rose is a first-generation Italian American and learned how to cook from her mother and aunts who emigrated from Southern Italy. She learned to appreciate Italian traditions and time-tested recipes and has adapted the “Old World” flavors and techniques into recipes that are more relevant today. She has a lifetime of culinary experiences to share with you… experiences that you won’t find in a cookbook or on TV. When you call Cucina Della Rosa, you will always be greeted by Mary Rose!
Bob – VP Sales and Marketing
Bob is co-owner of Cucina Della Rosa and husband to Mary Rose. An avid cook and food aficionado, he prefers to leave the cooking to Mary Rose while focusing on Sales & Marketing opportunities for the company. Bob is often in the kitchen hosting special events or at the Barrington Farmer’s Market and other community events and he is always available to help you learn more about Cucina Della Rosa. Catie – VP Research & Development
Catie is the twin sister to her brother Chris and a freshman at Barrington High School. Her primary role is to help Mary Rose research and develop new recipes and fun techniques which are oriented to our kids and teens events such as birthday parties and summer and winter camps. Catie also helps teach several of the classes to help ensure that everything we do is cool and she is a tough critic when it comes to having fun!
Chris – VP Internet Communications
Chris is a freshman attending Barrington High School with his twin sister. He helps develop the “What’s New” portion of the website and supports his dad with updating the company newsletter. Chris’s creativity and enthusiasm ensures that Cucina Della Rosa is relevant to today’s kids, teens and moms searching the web for something fun to do and he is also a wonderful Sou Chef like his sister!
